Staff from Fleetwood High School praised for their extraordinary efforts
One of the town’s leading GPs has praised Fleetwood High School after taking delivery of 200 custom produced visors.
Staff from the school, which is based on Broadway, have spent countless hours mass producing the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) after hearing from local GPs that they were struggling to find the products that they needed.
Mr Barnes, Fleetwood High School’s Headteacher, said: “As soon as our staff heard about the predicament, our Design and Technology Department was turned into a production line.
“Using some recommended templates from the internet, the team was soon producing dozens of visors. Such dedication has come with its challenges, like ensuring that social distancing was maintained, but their desire to support our incredible NHS has been both impressive and humbling.”
On Friday, 1 May, the first delivery of equipment was made to staff at Mount View Practice.
Mark Spencer, a GP at the practice, said: “All I can say is thank you to Fleetwood High School for the extraordinary efforts they have gone to.
“We are going to distribute these masks to surgeries and NHS staff across the town.
“They will not only help to keep frontline staff safe, but they will also help the residents of the town to stay safe too.”
Mr Barnes added: “The staff who delivered the visors were so proud. Our NHS and care staff are doing so much to help the residents of Fleetwood during these unprecedented times. Any small part we can play in supporting them is the very least that we can do.”
